10 Easy and Fun Tips for Decorating a Bedroom

1. Favorite things collage- Take photos of your favorite people, places and things. Buy a large canvas at an art supply store, and create a collage with your pictures.

2. Custom wallpaper border- Take photos of your favorite people, places and things and attach them to your wall in a row, like a wallpaper border. Instead of placing them straight, have them angled, and overlapping. You could also attach a string to the wall, and hang your pictures from clips, or even clothes pins. This makes it east to change them every once in a while.

3. Add some Colour- Paint your walls a colour that suits your room, and your personality. Use the things you have in the room for inspiration.

4. Look UP!!!- Add some excitement by painting the ceiling a bold fun colour.

5. Wall Tattoo- An old technique called stencilling has been given a new twist. Large, funky designs renamed "wall tattoo's" can be stencilled on a wall to create instant drama. A great way to add colour to your room.

6. Stripes- Paint one or all of your walls in a stripe design. Vary the sizes and colours to add excitement. To really mix it up, paint your stripes horizontally.

7. Poster Art- Instead of just tacking them up, add frames to your posters and pictures, and arrange them in a fun design. An alternative to frames, is foam core board. Cut it out to create your own frames. Remember, they don't all have to be squares and rectangles. Try circles, diamonds, hearts, etc.

8. Use a theme. If you love hockey, use a hockey stick as a curtain rod, hang your favorite team's Jersey, and a pair of skates on the wall. If you love the beach, paint the walls like water or sand, hang a bathing suit, and a beach bag from hooks, hang a beach ball from the ceiling....get creative, and make it fun!

9. Paint a mural. If you, or a person who loves you is a good artist, paint a mural on one wall. This can be done using acrylic artist paints or regular latex wall paint. The options are endless, but make sure you paint it on a wall that won't be covered in furniture, or all your hard work will be hidden.

10. Fashion Accessory. If you love shoes, show them off. Clear plastic shoe "racks" can be hung on the wall, showcasing your favorites. They usually hold around 20 pairs of shoes. If this doesn't begin to cover your shoe collection, you can hang as many racks as you have walls to hang them on. Other ways to show off your accessories, are hooks 3/4 of the way up the wall, all the way around the room. You can hang purses, jewellery, scarves,etc. A farorite shirt or dress can also be hung on the wall, to add a bit of colour and glamour!
